Viksit Bharat 2047 – Empowering Rural India through Innovation

About the Hackathon

KIIT Deemed to be University invites innovative student teams to submit project proposals for a hackathon to inspire students to develop technology-driven solutions that address the real-world challenges faced by rural India. Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the hackathon aims to harness the creativity, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit of young innovators to build inclusive, sustainable, and impactful solutions for the nation’s development. Participants will work on pressing issues across domains such as primary healthcare, school education, sanitation, clean water, agriculture, rural livelihoods, digital governance, and financial inclusion. Through innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving, students will create scalable and affordable technologies that can improve the quality of life in rural communities and contribute to building a self-reliant, digitally empowered, and developed India by 2047.

Hackathon Tracks

Track 1: Healthy & Empowered Villages

Problem statements

  • AI for primary healthcare and disease screening
  • Maternal and child healthcare
  • Telemedicine for remote villages
  • Smart sanitization and waste management
  • Clean drinking water monitoring
  • Nutrition and malnutrition detection
  • Primary education and digital classrooms
  • Skill development platforms
  • Women safety and empowerment
  • Disaster preparedness and emergency response

Track 2: Smart Rural Economy

Problem statements

  • Supply chain for rural India
  • Digital marketplace for farmers and artisans
  • Rural entrepreneurship
  • Renewable energy for villages
  • Rural transportation and logistics
  • Water conservation
  • Climate-resilient farming
  • Livestock management

Eligibility

  • Undergraduatestudents
  • Postgraduatestudents
  • Researchscholars
  • Teamsof 2 to 4 members (interdisciplinary teams are encouraged)

Proposal Submission Guidelines

  • Eachteam must submit a project proposal in the prescribed 
  • Theproposal should clearly describe the problem statement, proposed solution, innovation, expected impact, and technologies to be used.
  • Incompleteor non-conforming proposals may be 
  • Shortlistedteams will be invited to participate in the hackathon execution 

Important Dates:

  • Proposal Submission Deadline:  30th November 2026
  •  Shortlisting Announcement: 15th December 2026
  • Hackathon Date: 7th January 2027
